A personal site for forty years of Chinese art history, in one man’s words

Lü Peng is one of China’s most influential art historians, critics, and curators. Since the 1980s, he has written the history of Chinese contemporary art as it happened through major monographs, large-scale exhibitions, and decades of dialogue with artists.

The site needed to hold all of his work including books spanning forty years, curated exhibitions from Venice to Shenzhen, teaching materials, artist conversations, and an ongoing archive of writings. The design challenge was less about aesthetics and more about structure, ensuring a life’s work remains navigable without flattening it.
